I've been feeling like I've been battling against a tide all year; I just didn't feel like I was on the right path. I know what I want to do, it's just finding a course that will get me there, that is the trouble! Who ever knew getting into illustration would be this hard!
  This year I've been studying 'Visual Art' and although this has encouraged me to try new techniques and experiment a lot more, I don't feel like this is the right place for me to be. My favourite class is my comparative study; illustration! And I've been getting my best marks in that!
   A while ago, my illustration teacher approached me about swapping over into the graphic design course, I was a little unsure, because I don't know if I can handle logo design etc. all that jazz.... so I stuck with painting. He said that I'd be able to swap in third year and major in illustration, because they were planning to introduce a new illustration stream.
   He approached me again last week, to tell me that's no longer going to happen. But there is a group of second year painting students swapping for next year, who all want to be illustrators too. So I was given the chance to swap over into Graphic Design, but focus my assignments on illustrating said designs. This opportunity was too good to miss. So I swapped! I'm really excited about learning these new skills, and kinda flattered that he obviously saw enough potential in me to recruit me to the dark side. They better have cookies.
   But as soon as I made the choice, I realised all the things that I have been frustrated with suddenly disappeared. I felt that I was finally on track to getting where I want to be. So I am really happy It's just bad because now I'm in a different course to all my friends
